Carmel Valley, CA

If you are planning a visit to Big Sur, Carmel-by-the-Sea or Monterey, you should consider taking Carmel Valley Road East off of Highway One to find yourself transported into a scenic setting of rolling ranch land, wildflower meadows and meandering streams.

The Carmel River runs from the Santa Lucia mountains to the Pacific Ocean, creating this spectacular, verdant valley. While Carmel Valley was once the home of dairies, ranchers and farms, it now boasts award-winning wineries, one-of-a-kind shopping villages, world-class golf courses, unique resorts, fine-dining and even organic vegetable stands. Visitors can enjoy all of this as well as Carmel Valley’s rolling countryside and abundant sunshine.

The quaint Carmel Valley Village sports many delightful tasting rooms, making an afternoon of wine tasting a breeze. If you’d rather spend some time outdoors really exploring your surroundings, the nearby Holman Ranch offers horseback riding for every level. Beyond the Village, the Carmel Valley Road will take you toward the vineyards of Cachagua and also to the famous Tassajara Hot Springs and Zen Center.

Recreation & Tourist Activities

If you enjoy art galleries, Carmel Valley has many to choose from. You may find the exclusive collection of Macedonian artist Blagojce Stojanovski at the Blagoyce Fine Art Gallery of interest. The collection includes original drawings, etchings, paintings, and frescoes. Also displayed are museum quality icons and bas reliefs in marble, bronze, wood and plaster. If making your own art is more your speed, try Glazes, Ceramics and Mosaics where you can choose from hundreds of bisque shapes to paint or forms to mosaic. The staff is trained to help you create a masterpiece or, if you prefer, leave the painting to them.

The local Chamber of Commerce keeps a monthly calendar of activities and events which you may want to participate in. Some of the activities already scheduled for this year are a Moroccan Dinner featuring belly dancing by Jamaica Sinclair or if you’d like to try some Irish fare, head to the Garden Bistro of Carmel Valley which will be featuring Irish Cuisine and John Michael performing traditional and contemporary Irish songs.

For the rancher in all of us, check out the Carmel Valley Rancher’s Days scheduled for September 13-17 2007 at the Trail and Saddle Club. There will be kids events, womens events, mens events and team events. Roping, Cutting, Sorting, and Branding. There is sure to be fun for all!
