| Our Family Vineyard was founded in 2003/04 in the neighbouring wine regions Pécs, Szekszárd and Tolna in south Hungary. The modern cultivation methods, the young plants, the newly eased soil structure and economic size of the vineyard enables us to produce quality and high quality grapes on a lower cost level then our competitors. On the world wide well known yellow soil of Szekszárd red vine, on the calcareous mixed soil of Pécs white vine was planted. The planted 250000 roots summon up from 13 different sorts of vine like Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Portugieser, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Velsch Riesling, Muscat Ottonel, Kékfrankos, Bíborkadarka, Cserszegi Fűszeres and Zenit. The wide range of international and Hungarian sorts of vine make us able to produce raw material for wine for the home market and the European and World market as well. With the broad range of different sorts of vine it is also possible to equalize vintage differences and to guaranty quality and quantity of production in the long term. The Wekler Vineyards are 100% family owned so no other external factors than the market can have affect on the decisions that will be made with the goal of insuring and developing the business. Also negotiable are our Family Winery and Pension. In 2006 the Wekler Winery was founded in Mecseknádasd, Hungary. By reconstructing the two century’s old 150 meters (490 feet) long wood barrel aging cellar and adding the up to date 2000 hl fermentation room to the facility, traditional and modern technology was combined with the purpose of using the best of both to create wine of unique quality. The state of the art closed, heat controlled, stainless steel fermentation system enables us to produce both light bodied white, rosé or red wines and full bodied red and white wines with a high extract content as well. The 1200 hl wood barrel capacity gives us opportunity to let the grapes with the best quality become high value wines slowly in time as long as they need. As by now our wine producing capacity of 300.000 bottles a year- which we are expanding in the next two years to 500.000- is not equal with the harvested grape quantity. We have the luxury to pick only the best quality raw material. 200000 bottles a year are produced in good quality and are sold in the grocery segment and 100000 bottles a year are produced in extra quality and are sold on the restaurant and hotel market across the world. The product line of the winery contains a variety of different kinds and types of wines trying to fulfil the needs of every customer we can. With our marketing activities we communicate our family’s values of quality products at an affordable price for everyday and special quality products for special occasions. Our company goal is to be a recognised brand for good quality in most of the European countries and overseas as well. The Pension is located in the top levels of the building compound which also contains our winery and cellar. A snugly and warmly furnished grand hall suitable for seated reception of up to sixty people is located on the ground floor, in which dinners and wine tasting can be held in the comfortable warmth of the ceramic hearth. The state of the art presentational tools, like video projector and audio equipment makes this room suitable for business conferences and meetings as well. The newly established kitchen makes the preparation of cold and hot meals for sixty people possible. The brand new air conditioned, TV and internet enabled rooms with separate beds and bathrooms are found on the upper floor and can accommodate up to 12 guests. Expansion of the building complex- which is already under construction and will open in spring 2010- means room for 12 more guests. In addition to our wine tasting and gastronomic services we offer our guests several leisure time opportunities such as horseback riding, fishing, hunting and Nordic walking in the Kelet-Mecsek national reservoir. Our guests can also enjoy a relaxing day off in the nearby located thermal and wellness centre. The main concept of our Pension is to provide an unforgettable leisure time experience with wine to share with friends, family or co-workers. |
