The vineyard is located in Pope Valley, a growing region East of St. Helena in the Napa Valley AVA. The property is located on and visible from the main road through the valley, Chiles Pope Valley Road. The vineyard was originally developed in the mid ‘80’s, with redevelopment in 2000 and again in 2006. The plantings are centered in the Bordeaux varietals. Vineyard plantings total 69.3 acres. The property was granted a special use permit for the production of 100,000 gallons of wine annually. The permit allows for the construction of a 12,070 square foot winery building and 12,000 feet of caves, a covered production area, and a small mechanical room. Recently, wine production has occurred in a small facility (3,674 sq ft) operating under a modification to that permit that allows for 15,000 gallons of annual production. The 2,640 square foot winery building is insulated, refrigerated, and suitable for wine fermentation and storage. The metal building was constructed in 2001 and is a simple but functional design, with hot and cold water, glycol plumbing, and compressed air service built in. Also part of the facility is a 1,600 square foot covered crush pad. A nearby 1,216 square foot residence functions as lab, offices and conference area.
