Colmbia Valley is Washington's largest appellation. It is over 18,00 square miles and streches from the Okanagan wilderness, south into oregon and to the east along the snake river. Most of the grapes that are produced in Washington are grown in this region. Within the Columbia Valley there are smaller appellations, which include the Yakima Valley. The Yakima Valley is generally considered the heart of Washington's wine county and many other wineries purchase grapes from this region. As far as finding and purchasing a vineyard in this area you might have an easier time finding acreage to plant in grapes. There are some great local real estate agents in Yakima who would gladly help in your search for your perfect property.
