Vineyard plantings consist of approximately 134 acres of desirable cool climate grapes. All plants are grafted on phylloxera resistant root stock and the ages of the vines vary from planted in 1989 to 2005. On the Kennedys Road site is the Estate winery. This was purpose built in 1994-95 and has been subsequently extended. It is equipped with modern equipment allowing medal winning wines to be produced using traditional methods. The winery currently has the capacity for 600 tons (subject to tank space), but could be easily expanded to produce wines from other vineyard grapes. All plant and machinery is new or has been purchased in the last few years. The current stocks of bulk and bottled wine are included in the sale, as is the crop on the vines (if applicable due to the time of the year) so giving an immediate opportunity for income.
The current owners were pioneers of the New Zealand olive industry. The Estates include one of the largest commercial olive groves in the country, over 2,000 trees, and form the largest collection of varieties that is available for purchase within New Zealand. All trees were either imported or sourced from accredited nurseries and form the basis of an exciting and promising future industry.
